Run errands like picking up prescriptions, groceries, or mail
Visit and/or make phone calls to check on members
Provide technology support to members to help with phone, computer, or television and remote
Provide help with minor home repairs and modifications
Plan or attend a Berea Home Village social and/or learning event
May I choose what I do?
Volunteers help when they want and are involved in the activities in which they want to be involved. You choose what you want to do and Berea Home Village will work with you regarding your interests.
How does it work? Do I have a set schedule?
There is no set schedule. For example, you may be contacted by the executive director or other Berea Home Village representative to take a member to an appointment. If you are not able to do so, Berea Home Village will find another volunteer to help. Our normal hours for conducting business are Monday through Friday from 8am -5pm.
What is the process for learning about a volunteer activity or event?
Everything goes through the Berea Home Village organization. If there is going to be a learning or social event and you’ve expressed interest in that activity, we will reach out to you to see if you have time to help or if you want to attend.
Will Berea Home Village train me?
Yes. After deciding you’d like to be a volunteer, a training and orientation session will be scheduled. The session lasts about two and one-half hours and Berea Home Village provides you with lunch.
Will I need to have a background check?
Yes. All direct-service volunteers (those who work with members) and those who work with finances are required to have a background check.
